Echoing the anguish that Edvard Munch captured in his haunting masterpiece The Scream, I too have felt that same piercing despair and once painted my feelings long ago—first in 1977 and again in 1979. Perhaps the time has come to give voice to that cry once more. Today, I am shaken by the relentless tides of destruction and the ruthless abuse of power that darken our world. The canvas calls again, urging me to paint the horror and sorrow of this age—a new Grito for a world in torment.
